There were also sharing of experience by guest speakers about how their research institutes and universities are benefited by the creation and exploitation of IP in the course of science and technology research or IP trading.

The symposium, launched in 2000, is an annual event co-organised by the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO), Hong Kong Intellectual Property Department, and Macao Economic Services. The next symposium is scheduled to be held in mainland China in 2015.
