Four CPA Attorneys Recognised as 2016 IP Stars by Managing IP

China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) is pleased to share that four of our firm's attorneys have been recognised as IP Stars in Managing IP magazine's recently published 2016 IP Stars Survey.

The named CPA attorneys comprised deputy general manager Ms. Tina Tai, Beijing office director Mr. Wu Yuhe, Trademark Department manager Mr. Johnson Li, and Legal Affairs Department deputy manager Mr. Xiong Yanfeng, who were IP stars in the patent category, and Mr. Johnson Li was also named an IP star in the trademark and copyright category.

The 2016 IP Stars were selected based on extensive research and interviews over six months with IP professionals in 70 plus jurisdictions. The selected attorneys represented leading IP practitioners who had received most peer and client recommendation in the survey.

CPA was also rated as a Tier 1 firm in both patent prosecution and patent contentious work in China by Managing IP earlier this year. Comments on CPA and its IP Stars in relation to the awards read:

China Patent Agent (HK), founded in 1984, is now home to 570 staff, including 220 patent attorneys, 35 trademark attorneys, and 62 attorneys-at-law throughout its seven offices. The firm is known for patent drafting and application mandates, and is regarded as one of the top patent filers in China. "The firm delivers excellent work in many aspects of patent law, including prosecution, drafting, and invalidation," says a client. The firm also has a solid standing in trademark filing, cancellation, opposition and appeals.

Tina Tai is the deputy general manager of the firm, who is praised by one client for "having in-depth knowledge of Chinese patent law" and being "excellent across the spectrum of patent tasks, for example patent drafting, prosecution, invalidation, enforcement, and counselling". Director of the firm's Beijing office Yuhe Wu brings over 20 years of patent application and litigation casework to his team. A client praises Yanfeng Xiong as "one of the best patent litigators in China". Xiong and Johnson Li defended the client in a patent infringement suit, reversing an earlier ruling of patent invalidity and maintaining the decision at the Supreme People's Court. Johnson Li, manager of the trademark department, is the key contact for all kinds of trademark matters. His expertise lies in trademark strategy, counseling, and enforcement.
