CPA Successfully Hosts 2025 INTA Pre-Annual Meeting Reception

On 24 April 2025, our firm China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) and the International Trademark Association (INTA) jointly held the Shanghai reception for the 2025 INTA Annual Meeting at the Langham Hotel in XinTianDi, Shanghai. More than 100 representatives of government agencies, intellectual property (IP) professionals, and business representatives from various industries gathered to exchange and discuss the latest developments in IP. The reception was chaired by Mr. Hu Gang, deputy general manager of our firm and member of INTA's board of directors.

At the reception INTA CEO Mr. Etienne Sanz de Acedo delivered a video welcome speech, declaring the theme of this year's INTA Annual Meeting: "The Business of IP", and briefing on the highlights of the annual meeting, with special mention of the newly launched general counsel series and patent series, as well as the China Day event on 19 May.

Following were speeches made by INTA China chief representative Ms. Monica Su, Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration deputy director general Mr. Yu Chen, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Legal Affairs Department head Ms. Li Wei, and CPA general manager Mr. Wu Yuhe. INTA China chief representative Ms. Su in her speech reviewed the long-time tie between INTA and Shanghai city, and briefly introduced the upcoming annual meeting to be held in San Diego, in particular referring to this year's INTA Presidential Task Force topic of "Change and Transformation: Exploring the Evolution of In-House Teams, the Impact on External Partners, and Future Opportunities", and INTA's Guide for Chinese Enterprises in Overseas Intellectual Property Rights Practices.

CPA general manager Mr. Wu traced the cooperation between CPA and INTA, shared CPA's achievements attained through focused devotion to high quality IP service since our establishment 41 years ago, and asserted that our firm will continue to commit to providing even higher quality and more diverse IP services and serving both in-bound and out-bound IP services for domestic and foreign clients. He also recommended to the attendees the 3rd China International Supply Chain Expo to be held in Beijing in July.

Keynote speeches were given by Shanghai Intellectual Property Services Association (SIPSA) secretary general Ms. Fang Zhou, Hogan Lovells IP Group partner Ms. Helen Xia, and CPA Shanghai Office patent attorney Mr. Alex Yang. Mr. Alex's discussion focused on the impact of AI on IP protection and challenges posed by AI to IP services field, along with suggestions on strategies of addressing the risks and direction of future development.

The reception also featured a roundtable discussion, which was moderated by CPA International Filing Department deputy manager Ms. Rachel Zhang. Participants of the roundtable, including SIPSA secretary general Ms Fang Zhou, King & Wood Mallesons partner Mr. Ding Xianjie, CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office Domestic Trademark Department head Mr. Li Bo, Bosch China legal counsel Mr. Ding Yong, and Beijing Xin Ce Communication Consulting Co., Ltd. co-founder Mr. Xiao Feng, shared their experience of participating in the INTA annual meetings and extended discussion to topics such as business development and cross-cultural communication.
