CPA Attends 2025 LES Annual Meeting

On 27-29 April 2025, the 2025 LES International Annual Conference was successfully held in Singapore. Our firm China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA), represented by general manager Mr. Wu Yuhe, Legal Affairs Department deputy manager Mr. Zhao Sulin, and Trademark Department attorney Ms. Zhang Jinzhi, attended the annual conference.

The theme of this conference was "SMART CITIES, SMARTER IP: IP and Licensing Strategies for Sustainable Smart Cities", which focused on enabling collaboration within and across industries to effectively leverage intellectual property (IP) assets and creating opportunities to make smart city development "smarter". This annual conference brought together key leaders and players in the IP licensing industry and businesses, providing a platform for global dialogue on the use and protection of intangible assets and deployment of IP strategies in pursuit of the means of contributing to the smart city ecosystem and envisioning of a framework for the future.

The conference featured speeches, roundtables, and discussion groups, delving into a range of topics surrounding this year's theme, including FRAND dispute resolution, IP asset monetisation, trade secret management, artificial intelligence data and IP, and European Unified Patent Court (UPC) cases analysis. Also, strategies for effective use and protection of IP assets in evolving smart cities were explored towards joint promotion of innovation and IP development.

Our delegates had in-depth and extensive exchanges with industry peers from the US, Europe, Japan, Southeast Asia and other parts of the world on the conference topics. They also took the opportunity to introduce to associates from various countries and regions our firm's history, services, and expertise, as well as mention to them about the 3rd China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) hosted by the CCPIT, which will be held in Beijing this July.
