Copyright Society of China Granted WIPO Observer Status
At the 66th series of meetings of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)'s member states assembly held in Geneva, Switzerland on 9 July 2025, the Copyright Society of China was approved to become an observer of the WIPO, an agency of the United Nations dedicated to advancing intellectual property (IP) protection and development worldwide through cooperation between countries or in collaboration with other international organisations.
In recent years, the Copyright Society of China has been proactively involved in international exchanges and collaborations, facilitating members' participation in global events and extending influence in the field of copyright globally. And in June 2021, the Society was granted observer status at WIPO's Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR), for taking part in and contributing to the discussion of issues concerning the formulation of international copyright rules.
Following this designation as an observer of the WIPO, the Society will actively engage in various WIPO activities, reflect Chinese copyright narratives on the global platform, and aid the high-quality advancement of China's copyright sector.
