Chinese Companies on the List of WIPO Global Awards for Fourth Consecutive Year
On 11 July 2025, the 2025 WIPO Global Awards ceremony was held during the 66th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) at WIPO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. During the ceremony, winners were presented trophies by WIPO director general Mr. Daren Tang.
This year's Global Awards received over 780 entries from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups spanning 95 countries, and ten winners were selected from 30 finalists. The winning companies came from China, Singapore, India, Iceland, Sri Lanka, Chile, Switzerland, the UK, and South Korea with their innovations tackling global challenges in health, environment, agri-food, ICT (information and communication technology), and creative industries.
In the 2025 edition of the Awards, Chinese companies were on the list for the fourth consecutive year since the Awards’ inception in 2022. This year six Chinese companies were among the finalists, and one was among the winners, namely, Hangzhou Yushu Science and Technology Co., Ltd., which specialises in the development of high-performance robots widely used in education, research, logistics, and security, and possesses over 150 patents among its 180 patent applications filed worldwide.
The WIPO Global Awards are an international award specifically for small and medium-sized enterprises and startups across various industries, recognising their achievements on transforming research and ideas into successful commercial ventures, achieving business growth through IP-driven strategies, and developing innovations that contribute to sustainable social development.
