CPA Deputy General Manager Leads Delegation to 2025 AIPPI China Youth IP Dialogue

Recently, the China Chapter of International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (APPI China) held its 2025 Youth IP Dialogue in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Mr. Xiong Yanfeng, deputy general manager of our firm China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA), led a delegation participating actively in the forum.

The Dialogue targeted primarily young members of AIPPI China, and had the participation of judicial and examination experts from the Supreme People's Court and the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), corporate counsel, and representatives from industry associations to engage in discussions surrounding this year's theme of "The Dynamics of Industrial Innovation and Market Order".

In addition to topics concerning China's IP protection regulations and practices, such as patent protection in the chemical and pharmaceutical fields, trademark protection strategies under the new situation, and protection of partial and GUI designs, the Dialogue particularly studied international coordination of IP protection, covering topical issues such as global governance of standard essential patents (SEPs), overseas IP layout and protection, and artificial intelligence (AI) and industrial innovation in various countries.

The Dialogue comprised 12 sub-forums, among them 11 conducted in English and one in Japanese. At the Dialogue, CPA patent attorney Ms. Xiao Chuanxin moderated the forum "AI & Industrial Innovation (II)" and delivered a presentation at the forum on "Current Key Issues in Chemical & Pharmaceutical Patent Protection"; and patent attorneys Ms. Wang Yuanzhe and Ms. Liu Qian presented at the forums "Patent Linkage System and Patent Term Extension" and "Design Protection: Less is More?" respectively.

The Dialogue also featured Best Moderator Awards and Best Speaker Awards, the winners of which were determined by voting on-site. CPA is glad to share that our participating attorneys won the Best Moderator Award as well as took first, second, and third place in the Best Speaker category.

AIPPI, founded in 1897, is one of the world's largest non-governmental IP organisations.
