The 11th International Exhibition of Inventions (IEI) cum Belt & Road and BRICS Competition of Skill Development and Technological Innovation Successfully Concludes
On 22-24 August 2025, the 11th International Invention Exhibition (IEI) cum Belt & Road and BRICS Competition of Skills Development and Technology Innovation was held in Guangzhou, China. Organised by China Association of Inventions (CAI), Chinese Council of BRICS Business Council, and Guangzhou Domestic Cooperation Service Center, the event provided an important platform for promoting global scientific and technological innovation and exchanges, and showcased 2,000-plus latest invention achievements from over 30 countries and regions in artificial intelligence, new energy, biomedicine, high-end equipment, digital technology and other fields.
The event, attended by Mr. Yu Huarong, executive vice chairman of CAI; Ms. Liu Hua, director of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Office in China; Mr. Alireza Rastegar, president of the International Federation of Inventors' Associations (IFIA); and Mr. Huo Yang, director of Guangzhou Cooperation Office, gathered over 300 international guests including representatives from BRICS and Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) partner countries, academicians and experts, business leaders and industry professionals, and award-winning contestants.
During the occasion, a number of awards were presented. The Invention Exhibition Awards this year granted 323 golds, 444 silvers, and 503 bronzes, as well as 8 special awards, among which, the invention of Zeng Wei from Beijing Yuchi Information Technology of a vehicle-based, integrated, full-process solution for live film and television production was recognised with the WIPO Best Invention Award; Professor Wang Aijie of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) won the WIPO Best Women Invention Award for her carbon-independent deep denitrification technology for wastewater; and Zhan Yihan of Xiamen Foreign Languages School received the WIPO Best Youth Invention Award for a multifunctional, environmentally friendly, small underwater gripping robot. In addition, 36 golds, 34 silvers, 45 bronzes, and 14 special awards were conferred to international entries.
Awards were also delivered for the Technology Innovation Competition, comprising 18 golds, 32 silvers, and 28 bronzes. The competition was participated by over 300 contestants from more than a dozen countries, with the innovations covering a wide range of areas such as advanced manufacturing, green energy, artificial intelligence, digital agriculture, digital healthcare, future technology, and public management.
