CPA Attends 2026 World IP Day Celebration in Hong Kong

On 21 April 2026, the 2026 World Intellectual Property Day Reception organised by the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government (IPD) was held in Hong Kong. China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) was invited to the reception and was represented at the event by our deputy general manager Mr. Xiong Yanfeng, Patent Application Department manager Mr. Sun Zhigang, and Trademark Department deputy manager Ms. Kit Wan.

The theme for this year's World Intellectual Property Day was "IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate!". In addressing the reception, Mr. Chan Mo-po, financial secretary of Hong Kong SAR, highlighted the substantial economic value of IP in the region and outlined three prioritised areas to be implemented to advance Hong Kong's development as a regional IP trading centre, namely, taxation, IP financing, and talent development.

The event gathered about 180 participants including representatives from government, consulates, legal community, IP associations, academia, and business sectors. CPA delegation gladly had the opportunity to explore along with the officials, experts and industry practitioners and exchange views with them on key issues surrounding the designated theme, among them IP's role in empowering innovation in the sports industry and protection and commercialisation of sports IP.
