WIPO Releases Collection of China's Leading Judgments on IP Rights (2019-2023)
On 26 April 2026, the 26th World Intellectual Property Day, the "WIPO Collection of Leading Judgments on Intellectual Property Rights People's Republic of China (2019-2023)" was released.
This collection, jointly published by the Supreme People's Court of China (SPC) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), includes 66 typical civil, administrative, and criminal cases adjudicated by Chinese courts between 2019 and 2023, covering patent rights, trademark rights, copyright, monopoly and unfair competition, trade secrets, new plant varieties, and integrated circuit layout designs. The collection, presented in both Chinese and English, contains over 300,000 words.
In recent years, Chinese courts actively participated in global IP governance within the framework of the WIPO by sharing their rich resources of IP cases. In 2019, the SPC in cooperation with the WIPO published the first volume of China-specific case collections "WIPO Collection of Leading Judgments on Intellectual Property Rights People's Republic of China (2011-2018)". In 2023, the SPC further participated in the compilation of the China chapter in WIPO's flagship publication "An International Guide to Patent Case Management for Judges". To date, 96 representative IP judgments from Chinese courts are accessible in WIPO Lex, a database for IP laws, treaties, and IP judgments from 200 jurisdictions.
