Three Chinese Companies Recognised in WIPO Global Awards 2026

On 10 July 2026, the winners of the 2026 WIPO Global Awards were announced in a ceremony during the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) General Assembly held in Geneva, Switzerland. The Awards saw a record number of entries this year with over 1,300 applications from 126 countries worldwide, spanning the sectors of agriculture and food, creative industries, environment, health, ICT, and sports.

At the ceremony, WIPO director general Mr. Daren Tang presented awards to the representatives of 11 winning companies. Among the winners, three came from China, namely, Botree, recognised for its sustainable lithium battery recycling supply chains; ArteryFlow, for its AI non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostics platform; and Regend Therapeutics, for its world-first lung tissue regeneration therapy. Other winners were from the US, Argentina, Japan, Brazil, South Korea, Chile, and Switzerland.

The assessment of the Awards was based on strength of the business case, that is, how successful it is in turning creative or innovative ideas into a viable commercial venture; the company's IP commercialisation strategy and internal IP culture; and contribution of its business to economic, social, cultural, or environmental development and addressing global challenges.

Launched in 2022, the Awards recognise excellent small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups for their strategic use of intellectual property to drive business growth and bring positive commercial and societal impact.
